Want to Partner with me? Here's How!!!

In less than 2 months I'll be on a plane to Tororo, Uganda to work at an orphanage called Smile Africa! Helping children ages new born - adults. There are around 350 children who come daily to receive showers, meals, academic school, church school, free time, clinic if needed, and the hopes of building family and community.

I have taken this step of faith in just committing to going! It has been a great journey so far and I haven't even left the U.S. I'm so excited to see how God will work through me and how I will change before, during, and after my experience there.

I would love your partnership in prayer and financially. There are 2 ways you can contribute to my service in Africa!

( All Donations are Tax Deductible)

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to email me!! God is using this trip in so many ways! He is working through me, in me, in my family, friends, co-workers, and strangers I get the opportunity to share with.

Feel Free to send this on to anyone you think would be interested!!

Thanks for your partnership!

Overwhelmed

Definition of Overwhelm-
-To surge over and submerge; engulf

-To affect deeply in mind or emotion
-To present with an excessive amount
-to overpower the thoughts, emotions, or senses of
- to overcome, as with a profusion or concentration of something
-to cover over or bury completely
-to weigh or rest upon overpoweringly

This is how I feel. Daily I am reminded of the encouragement and support of friends, family, coworkers, teachers, and random strangers that hear the story of my upcoming adventure. THANK YOU to all who have encouraged me to take this step of faith and go after a dream and step out of my comfort zone to see a world that is foreign to me and learn the ways of life in a different way.

As you notice to the right I am about half way to my financial goal! WAHOO!!! So stinkin' amazing! Daily when envelopes are mailed back I am overwhelmed by the blessings of little notes, support and financial partnership! Praise the Lord, He is fulfilling His promise to me! He said He has it covered and He does!

Have you been in a situation or position where your family, coworkers, organization, or anyone has told you great things about you? What they love about you? How awesome you are? What characteristics they love about you? - Recently in the Africa process people have been sharing things about me that just blow me away and I am overwhelmed by what encouragement they are saying and how awesome it is to have people speak truth into your life!

I am encouraging you, to step out tell others what you love about them, what strengths you see in them. It is the small things we remember!
Be blessed!

Two Become One

Above are some pictures of my older sisters wedding! They really don't do justice to how amazing the gardens were behind the ceremony setting, or how unique and fun the reception in the barn was, and of course how beautiful Natalie looked on her big day!

It was my first of two sisters to get married and the work and excitement that leads up to it during the engagement doesn't do justice to what a fantastic day it is! I truly love having family come together for occasions like this! Conversation, pictures, eating, dancing, and all that comes with it!
Unfortunately my camera batteries died at the beginning of the dance so I wasn't able to get more pics and I didn't have time to take detail photos of the tables and all the small fun things my sister had put thought into!

It is always a joy to see two people from very different lives meet at a random spot, grow and develop a relationship and want to spend the rest of their lives with the other. I believe that is very much destined from the Lord and only he could create such a beautiful story.

Video!

As I'm learning how to make my blog more resourceful for those of you following and to give you the best updated information while I'm gone I'm posting the Africa Inland Mission (AIM) video. This way you can understand more about the organization and who I'll be representing over there besides all of you of course!

Hope this helps better understand the heart of this mission!

The Next Step...Africa!

Hello All!!
If you have not yet heard...I am going to Africa for 9 months!!! Yes, Africa!! How did this all come about? Let me tell you!
I finished working at TreeHouse in the Twin Cities in March and was unemployed from then til May. In seeking what kind of job should I get, should I go back to school, where should I go, should I move, etc. The Lord made it clear that Africa was where I should go. I was very surprised but yet I have wanted to go since 2005 when I heard of the organization Mocha Club: https://www.themochaclub.org/
With school, and graduating it never seemed to work out and I didn't want to go for a couple weeks and spend $3,000; If i'm going to make the trip I want to be there for awhile to get to know the culture etc.

So I started pursuing the idea and verbalizing it with friends and anyone around. I heard of Africa Inland Missions and put in my interest. Since then I have been officially accepted and will be leaving early October to go to Tororo, Uganda to work at Smile Africa.

Smile Africa is an orphanage that currently 400 children come to. It is a day program facility because they don't have the housing to house them all. The children receive showers, meals, schooling, church, and free time while there during the day. They also have an infant room, schooling for teenage and widowed women to learn trades so they have a job to earn money when they are done.

As you can see on the side of my blog I am needing to raise $12,000 to be there. These funds help the costs of living there, my medical needs before and during, and the cost of traveling there and back.  If you would like to partner with me and haven't received a letter please send me your address and I will be sure to do so!

I am going to be updating my blog as much as I can before and during my time at Smile. Please check often to be updated with what is going on! I hope to add videos and pictures as much as I can!

Blessings!

Leah
